MINUTES

 

Chairman John P. Sivick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Also present were Richard C. Vollmer, Vice Chairman; Paul D. Menditto, Supervisor and Robert H. Rohner, Jr., Secretary/Treasurer.  Atty. Robert F. Bernathy and William J. Greiner, P.E. were not present.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

 

No comments were received.

 

APPROVE THE MINUTES OF APRIL 13, 2010:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve the minutes of April 13, 2010 as presented.  Mr. Vollmer abstained because he was not present for the meeting.

 

APPROVE THE MINUTES OF APRIL 21, 2010:

 

Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Vollmer to approve the minutes of April 21, 2010 as presented.  Mr. Menditto abstained because he was not present for the meeting.

 

AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT OF THE BILLS ON LIST #1, LIST #2 AND THE TRANSFERS AS PRESENTED:

 

Motion made by Mr. Vollmer and second of Mr. Menditto to authorize the payment of the bills on List #1, List #2 and the transfers as presented.  Unanimous.

 

ACCEPT THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS; ALL FUNDS, FOR THE MONTH ENDED MARCH 31, 2010:

 

Motion made by Mr. Vollmer and second of Mr. Menditto to accept the financial statements; all funds, for the month ended March 31, 2010 as presented.  Unanimous.

 

ROY BORGFELD:  PIKE COUNTY CONSERVATION DISTRICT – ANNUAL REPORT:

  1. ROBERT RICE PROPERTY, WINONA LAKES ESTATES, LOT 220,

  1. VICTORY GARDEN:

 

Mr. Sivick stated that the supervisors met with representatives with the national park service to discuss the creation of a victory garden at the Heller’s Farm.  It will be open to the residents of the township.  The park service will forward the rules and regulations for review.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

  1. WALKER BROTHERS CIRCUS-FRIDAY, JUNE 25TH, 5:30 & 7:30 PM

AT THE COMMUNITY PARK:

 

Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Vollmer to approve this function.  Unanimous.

 

  1. APPOINTMENT OF STANLEY WHITTAKER AS MUNICIPAL

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR:

 

Motion made by Mr. Vollmer and second of Mr. Menditto to appoint Stanley Whittaker to the position of Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator.  Unanimous.

 

  1. ABATEMENT OF TAXES-POCONO MT. LAKE ESTATES, LOTS 395 & 396, SECTION 2D:

 

Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Vollmer to abate the 2010 real estate taxes for Lots 395 and 396, Section 2D in Pocono Mountain Lake Estates.  Unanimous.

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

 

  1. Spring Clean Up Days will be conducted May 6th and 7th from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and May 8th from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  1. The township received from Diamond Communications LLC a check for $3,542.12 which represents revenue sharing from the tower located behind the municipal building.

 

  1. REQUEST OF GIRL SCOUT TROOP #50324 THE USE OF THE MUNICIPAL PAVILION ON SAT., JUNE 19TH FROM 12:00 – 3:00 PM FOR END OF YEAR PICNIC AND GRADUATION OF SENIOR TROOP MEMBERS:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Vollmer to approve this request.  Unanimous.

 

ROADMASTER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR:

 

Mr. Sivick stated that the crew has been filling potholes on Community Drive.  Maintenance and repairs to the community park buildings.  The Bushkill Outreach will hold their annual flea market/fundraiser at the park May 29th-31st.  Cutting of grass and site lines.

FRIENDS OF THE DELAWARE WATER GAP NAT’L RECREATION AREA:

 

Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Menditto to release the township’s 2010 donation in the amount of $1,000.00 to the Friends of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.  The funds will be used to open the information center in Bushkill.

 

BUSHKILL AMBULANCE CORP – RELEASE OF $10,000:

 

Motion made by Mr. Vollmer and second of Mr. Menditto to release the township’s 2010 donation in the amount of $10,000.  Unanimous.

 

SIMONE COLLINS INVOICES:

 

Invoicing by GTS for additional services for the community park’s NPDES application is being reviewed by Mr. Rohner.  Atty. Bernathy will review the GTS contract.  In a related matter, the supervisors will review and decide whether to expand the current NPDES application before the Pike County Conservation District (PCCD) to cover the entire construction area within the community park.  Mr. Sivick will contact Susan Beecher with the PCCD. 

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to adjourn into Executive Session at 10:49 p.m. regarding litigation.  Unanimous.

 

Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Menditto to return to the regular meeting at 12:01 p.m.  Unanimous.

 

ROBERT RICE PROPERTY:

 

Atty. Bernathy is attempting to contact the servicing agent for the mortgage company.
