MINUTES

 

Chairman John P. Sivick called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  Also present were Paul D. Menditto, Supervisor and Robert H. Rohner, Jr., Secretary/Treasurer.  Richard C. Vollmer, Vice Chairman; Robert F. Bernathy, Township Solicitor and William J. Greiner, P.E., Township Engineer was not present.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

 

A comment was received to have separate waste containers for trash and recycables on the municipal field.  Mr. Sivick stated that it will be instituted.

 

A comment was received regarding the township’s expenses without a tax increase.  Mr. Sivick stated that once the official census figures are established, mandated requirements will be reviewed.

 

APPROVE THE MINUTES OF MAY 18, 2011:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve the minutes of May 18, 2011 as presented.

 

APPROVE THE MINUTES OF MAY 26, 2011:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve the minutes of May 26, 2011 as presented.

 

AUTHORIZE THE PAYMENT OF THE BILLS ON LIST #1, LIST #2 AND THE TRANSFERS AS PRESENTED:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to authorize the payment of the bills on List #1, List #2 and the transfers as presented.

 

ACCEPT THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS; ALL FUNDS, FOR THE MONTH ENDED APRIL 30, 2011:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to accept the financial statements; all funds, for the month ended April 30, 2011.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

1.      REQUEST OF THE BUSHKILL COMMUNITY CHURCH TO USE THE

COMMUNITY PARK JULY 25-29 FROM 9:30 AM TO NOON FOR SUMMER CAMP:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve this request.

 

2.      REQUEST OF MOUNTAIN STREAM BAPTIST CHURCH TO USE THE

COMMUNITY PARK ON JULY 16TH FROM 10:30 AM TO 5:00 PM:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve this request.

 

3.      REQUEST OF TROOP 87 THE USE OF THE MUNICIPAL PAVILION ON SUNDAY, JUNE 5TH AT 6:00 PM:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve this request.

 

ADDENDUM NO. 1:  REQUEST OF THE EAST STROUDSBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR ASSISTANCE WITH PARKING DURING COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES ON JUNE 15TH AND 16TH:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve this request.

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

 

1.      The annual Fishing Derby will be held on Sunday, June 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the community park.

 

ROADMASTER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR:

 

Mr. Sivick stated that the crew has been busy with weed and tree trimming at site lines.  Paving this week at the Mink Pond Road culvert project site.  The Bushkill Outreach’s flea market was a huge success.  Community park maintenance.  Litter pick up throughout the township.

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Sivick to approve the minutes of June 1, 2011 as presented.  Mr. Vollmer abstained because he was not present for that meeting.

Mr. Vollmer will review the status of the demolition permit.

 

  1. MT. LAUREL ART CENTER CONCERTS:

 

Township officials with the sheriff’s department and ambulance corp representatives met with the art center owner’s representative to discuss emergency services and pyrotechnic concerns of the KISS concert.  The fire company will be on site the night of the concert.  There will be dry run of the pyrotechnics before the concert date (July 13th).

  1. BLIGHTED PROPERTIES:

 

The Pennsylvania bill for blighted properties will clarify the township’s dangerous structure ordinance.  Mr. Bernathy will prepare a proposed ordinance for the supervisors’ review.

 

MISCELLANEOUS:

 

  1. REQUEST OF CHRISTINE OBSER TO USE THE MUNICIPAL OFFICE ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29TH BEGINNING AT 8:00 AM FOR MET ED

RECERTIFICATIONS:

 

Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Vollmer to approve this request.  Unanimous.

 

  1. The annual fishing derby will be held on Sunday, June 19th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the community park.

 

  1. The Walker Brothers Circus will be held at the community park on Friday, June 24th.  Show times at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.

 

  1. REQUEST OF CHRISTINA WEBBER TO USE THE MUNICIPAL PAVILION ON SATURDAY, JUNE 19TH FROM NOON TO 7:00 PM:

 

            Motion made by Mr. Menditto and second of Mr. Vollmer to approve this request.

            Unanimous.

 

  1. Juneteenth will be held Saturday, June 18th at the community park from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

ROADMASTER/PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR:

 

Mr. Sivick stated that shoulders on Mink Pond Road were black-topped.  Community park maintenance for upcoming events.  Line painting to be completed.  Site lines cleared.  Drainage work.  Clean up of the maintenance yard from the Clean Up Days.

NEW ACCOUNT AT WAYNE BANK:

 

Since it had been determined that Wayne Bank’s Cash Management Account would not be an option for the township, a new account will be opened that will not put funds at risk.  Motion made by Mr. Sivick and second of Mr. Menditto to open the new account; entirely FDIC insured, at Wayne Bank.  Unanimous.
